OVERVIEW HCG - Malnad Hospital & Institute of Oncology (MHIO) is the first comprehensive cancer centre to be established in the Shivamogga district. Established in 2003 as a result of collaboration between HCG and like-minded medical professionals and philanthropists, MHIO has played a crucial role in meeting the cancer care needs of the region.

Being the first dedicated cancer centre in the Malnad region, HCG-MHIO serves as a vital resource for cancer patients in Shivamogga and neighbouring districts, including Chikmagalur, Davangere, Chitradurga, Haveri, and Karwar, where specialised cancer care facilities were previously scarce.
