Dr. Shalini Thakur is a Programme Director - Oral Onco Surgery and Rehabilitation in the Head and Neck Surgical Oncology Department, HCG Cancer Centre, Bengaluru.
Dr. Shalini’s primary interest lies in oral onco surgery and her secondary interest lies in interdisciplinary rehabilitation of head and neck patients and tobacco cessation.
Dr. Shalini handles more than 250 surgery cases every year.
She is also closely involved in the post-treatment rehabilitation of her patients and is also working on several research projects in order to improve the understanding of this debilitating disease.

Dr. Shalini has over 20 publications in reputed national and inter-national scientific journals.
Dr. Shalini has received the Best Paper Award at the National Conference on Oral Medicine and Radiology, Chennai, 2009
She was also recognised as the best outgoing student and gold medallist - VSDC, Bengaluru, in 2009.
She was also the first rank holder during her post-graduation in 2014.
She has been instrumental in setting up a national platform for integrated head and neck rehabilitation by initiating the NCGH life programme.
She was also responsible for setting up and smooth functioning of the HCG plasma bank during the COVID period.
She has also been visiting many colleges as a guest speaker for creating awareness against the use of tobacco amongst the youth.

She has received her fellowship training in Oral onco surgery from Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology (KMIO), Bengaluru and RGUHS.
She has completed her certification course in Essentials of Palliative care from Indian Association of Palliative Care.
