Introduction

Dr. Akshay Kudpaje is a senior Head and Neck Cancer Surgeon who brings over two decades of experience to the surgical management of head and neck cancers, a field that demands both technical precision and a deeper understanding of how to prioritize the quality of life for these patients.

His educational qualifications include MBBS, MS (ENT), and MCh (Head and Neck Surgical Oncology) from prestigious medical institutions in India. In addition, he has completed his fellowship training in head and neck oncology at the Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, Bangalore, followed by the ASOHNS Fellowship at Westmead Hospital, Sydney, under Prof. Carsten Palme, one of the leading hospitals for head and neck surgery internationally.

Over the years, Dr. Kudpaje has held senior positions at MVR Cancer Center in Kozhikode and HCG Cancer Hospital and Cytecare Hospital in Bangalore. He is particularly known for his expertise in transoral laser microsurgery. This technique allows precise resection of laryngeal and pharyngeal tumors without external incisions, preserving voice and swallowing function in a way that open surgery often cannot.

Apart from his clinical practice, Dr. Kudpaje has been actively involved in teaching and has conducted 14 national and international workshops on transoral laser surgery. He has also contributed 8 chapters to the textbook "Basic Concepts in Head and Neck Surgery and Oncology."
